In world of Japanese animation or anime, there is a subculture of “Cosplay” or which is a combination words of “costume” and “roleplay”. Cosplay is centered on dressing as characters from manga, anime, tokusatsu, and video games, and, less commonly, Japanese live action television shows, fantasy movies, or Japanese pop music bands. For a clear minded person, this might be considered as some sort of minor craziness, but for others it is considered to be a hobby. (I am sure Chee Kui and Ken Xu would agree with me on this, right guys?). Normally, like-minded people gather to see others’ costumes, show off their own elaborate handmade creations, take lots of pictures, and possibly participate in best costume contests. In response to the current popularity of cosplay, the 5th World Cosplay Summit for 2007 was held in Nagoya, Japan.
WCS2007 was a 2-day event, 4th-5th August 2007. Events planned were parade, stage event and World Cosplay championship.
